SOURCING RESOURCES

Sourcing sewing supplies and components can be complex, especially when consistency, availability, and timing matter. At Heit’s, we draw on decades of experience working with a trusted network of mills and manufacturers to source both everyday products and specialty items. We focus on practical solutions, clear communication, and dependable supply, helping our customers navigate sourcing with confidence whether they are ordering in stock items or developing something new. If we do not have what you need on hand, we can help source it when you are prepared to meet the required minimum order quantity.

How Custom Sourcing Works At Heit's

Custom sourcing follows a structured, one-time development process designed to get the product right and keep it available when you need it.

Step 1

Send Us a Sample

You send us a samples of the product you need, or a clear reference for what you are trying to match or develop.

Step 2

Quoting and Feasibility

(approximately 2 weeks)

We send the sample to the appropriate mill and review specifications. Once evaluated, we provide you with a detailed quote, FOB Pittsburgh, so you can decide how to move forward.

Step 3

Sample Production

(approximately 4 weeks)

If you approve the quote and place a deposit, the mill produces a development sample based on the agreed specifications.
Step 4

Quality Control Review

(approximately 2 weeks)

The sample is sent back to us for review. We inspect it for consistency and alignment with the original request before moving it forward.
Step 5

Customer Testing and Approval

(approximately 1 week)

We send the mill’s sample to you so you can perform your own testing, evaluation, and approval based on your standards and application.
Step 6

Production Begins

(approximately 4 weeks)

Once you approve the sample, full production begins at the mill.
Step 7

Shipping to Our Warehouse

Finished goods are shipped to our warehouse.

Air freight typically takes about 3 weeks.
Sea freight typically takes about 6 weeks.
Step 8

Final Payment and Fulfillment

Once the goods arrive, we collect final payment and ship what you need, when you need it.

After Development

This is a one-time development process. Once the product is finalized, we can keep your goods warehoused and ready so you have access to them anytime you need to reorder. This eliminates repeat lead times and allows you to focus on production rather than sourcing.

Things to Keep In Mind

As with any custom product development process, there can be nuances that affect timelines or costs, depending on materials, specifications, testing requirements, or production constraints. We communicate clearly at every step so there are no surprises, keeping the process as straightforward and manageable as possible.
